NEW ROCHELLE, NY — An attempt to sell illegal fireworks online turned to be a dud of a transaction for a Westchester County would-be entrepreneur, according to cops.

On Thursday, around 6 p.m., a New Rochelle Police Department investigation into illegal fireworks sales led to the arrest of a man accused of selling $500 worth of fireworks.

Investigators identified 25-year-old Jushwa Budhu, as a suspect in the illegal sale of fireworks through an online platform operating out of New Rochelle. The investigation led to a transaction in which Budhu was taken into custody.

He was booked and is scheduled to appear in New Rochelle Court on July 7.

The fireworks that officers seized were valued at over $500, according to police.

The New Rochelle Police Department is encouraging residents to report the illegal sale of fireworks or other suspicious activity on the department's non-emergency number 914-654-2300 or anonymously at 914-632- COPS.

Budhu was charged with unlawfully selling fireworks with a value of $500 or more, a misdemeanor.
