Driver Strikes Utility Pole On North Fork; Portion Of Roadway Closed For Extended Period: Police
The driver, 19, sustained minor injuries, police say.

PECONIC, NY — A driver struck a utility pole in Peconic Thursday, leading to a portion of the roadway being closed for an extended period of time, police said.
According to Southold Town police, the incident took place at 4:21 p.m. on Main Road and Indian Neck Lane.
A 19-year-old from New Suffolk veered off the roadway during the single-vehicle crash and struck the utility pole, police said. The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported by the Southold Fire Department to Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital for treatment, police said..

The westbound lane of Main Road remained closed for an extended period while utility crews replaced the damaged utility pole, police said.
An investigation determined that the crash was non-criminal in nature, and no charges have been filed, police said.
