Hampton Bays Charged With Felony DWI On Shelter Island: Police
He was arrested after a traffic stop following an illegal turn, police say.
SHELTER ISLAND, NY — A Hampton Bays man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated on Shelter Island, police said.
According to Shelter Island police, Cristian G. Villa Peralta, 41, was arrested on Monday at 4:41 p.m. and charged with DWI, previous conviction within 10 years, a felony; aggravated DWI, operating a motor vehicle with .18 percent blood alcohol content or more, previous conviction within 10 years; illegal turn, signal less than 100 feet; and driving without a seat belt.
Villa Peralta was driving east on Smith Town when he performed an illegal turn onto Cove Way and a traffic stop was conducted, police said. He was arrested, charged, held overnight and brought to Shelter Island Justice Court for arraignment, where he was released on his own recognizance and directed to return at a later date, police said.

His vehicle was seized in accordance with the Suffolk County DWI seizure law, police said.
