LI Snow Watch: Dramatic Shift In Weekend Forecast, NWS Says
See what to expect in terms of snowfall this weekend on Long Island.

LONG ISLAND, NY — In the end, Long Islanders may not see much snow this weekend — or any at all, the National Weather Service said Friday.
According to David Stark, meteorologist with the National Weather Service Office in Upton, after days of speculation regarding potential heavy snowfall Saturday night into Sunday, now, those predictions are "trending down."
He added: "It's very likely that we're not going to see much snow, if at all."

Western Nassau County may emerge unscathed, with no snow, and even Suffolk County may see little to no snowfall, with maybe just a light coating expected, Stark said. The only exception is the East End, where the possibility exists for a possible inch of snow out toward Montauk.
But even that is uncertain, Stark said. "The chances are getting lower and lower," he said.

Temperatures, however, will still remain extremely cold, Stark said. On Friday, those temperatures are not expected to rise out of the teens; Friday night, the temperatures will drop into the single digits, with wind chills of minus 5 to minus 8 degrees overnight, he said.
On Saturday, highs in the 20s are possible, with wind chills during the day in the low-to-mid teens, "a slight improvement from Friday," Stark said. Then, on Saturday night, those temperatures are slated to plummet back into the teens, with wind chills of 0 to minus 5 degrees possible.
On Sunday, the highs will reach the mid-20s and continue to pick up, Stark said, adding, "On Monday we may get temperatures potentially close to freezing."
