Man Charged With DWI After Greenport Crash: PD

He crashed into a tree, police say.

NORTH FORK, NY — A man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after a Greenport crash, police said.

According to Southold Town police, the incident took place on August 24 on Shore Road at 1:26 a.m. Joshu Patsos, 32, of Greenport, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DWI, police said.

Southold police said they received notification of a crash in the area of Shore Road; upon arrival, officers observed Patsos next to a vehicle which had crashed into a tree, police said.

Patsos stated that he was the sole occupant of the vehicle and additionally said that he was on his way home from a bar in Greenport, police said.

Patsos admitted to consuming an alcoholic beverage, was unsteady on his feet, had an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath, and performed poorly on standardized field sobriety tests, police said.

Patsos was found the be intoxicated, was placed under arrest, transported to STPD for processing and was held for arraignment, police said.
