Brooke Eastwood Achieves Score in Top Nationwide Percentage

RIVERHEAD, NEW YORK—Riverhead High School senior Brooke Eastwood was recently honored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) as a Preliminary SAT (PSAT)/National Merit® Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT) Commended Student.
“The district commends Brooke for this remarkable achievement,” said Riverhead Central School District Superintendent Dr. Robert Hagan. “We are proud to foster the crucial skills our students need to thrive in their classrooms, attain exceptional results and opportunities, and prepare for their futures.”
The PSAT/NMSQT exam is a standardized test administered by the College Board and co-sponsored by the NMSC that evaluates students’ reading, writing, and mathematics skills. According to the College Board, the exam familiarizes students with the test formats of the SAT and AP exams and objectively measures core skills utilized in postsecondary pathways. It also serves as the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program and can provide high-scoring students with opportunities for additional scholarships.
