State Of Emergency Issued In Southold Town Due To Blizzard; Southold Schools Closed Monday
All non-essential town offices will be closed on Monday, officials say.

NORTH FORK, NY — As a blizzard readies to barrel across the North Fork, Southold Town Supervisor Al Krupski has declared a state of emergency.
The declaration took effect at 4 p.m. on Sunday and will last until 5 a.m. unless earlier terminated or extended, he said.
"The safety of our residents and visitors is our top priority," he said. "Residents are urged to continue monitoring local weather conditions, avoid unnecessary travel, and assist in keeping roadways clear by removing vehicles, garbage cans, and other personal property from town rights-of-way."

All non-essential town offices will be closed on Monday, he added.
In addition, Southold schools will be closed Monday due to inclement weather. All school activities are canceled.
