'Best Way To Honor Brittany Is To Carry Who She Was:' Sister-In-Law's Message After Missing Woman Found Dead

EAST NORWICH-OYSTER BAY, NY — The loss of Brittany Kritis-Garip of East Norwich has been felt by her family, friends, and community members across Long Island.
Brittany was last seen on foot in Oyster Bay and reported to Nassau County police as missing on the evening of March 20, the NCPD said.
A body was recovered in the Long Island Sound off Lloyd Harbor Road on April 14 and has been identified as Brittany Kritis-Garip, Suffolk County police said.

In a nearly month-long search, community members, police, family, and friends took to looking throughout Oyster Bay and the surrounding areas for the 32-year-old. Her family's pleas and the outpouring of support for Brittany were felt across Long Island.

Jess Kritis, Brittany's sister-in-law, shared a heartfelt message in the Oyster Bay Town Residents public group:
"On behalf of the Kritis–Garip family, we want to extend our deepest thank you to the Oyster Bay community.
"This group has been nothing short of incredible over the years, and especially during this time. Your support, your messages, your willingness to share Brittany’s story, and even showing up to help search has meant more to us than we can ever put into words.
"We see you, we feel your love, and we are so grateful to be surrounded by such a strong and compassionate community. As we try to process everything, we kindly ask for privacy during this time.
"The best way to honor Brittany is to carry who she was — to be kind, to be gentle, and to look out for one another the way she always did. Thank you for standing with us."
