Utility Pole Cracked In Half After Mattituck Crash: Fire Officials

The crash took place at the intersection of Main Road and Bay Avenue, the Mattituck Fire Department says.

MATTITUCK, NY — A utility pole in Mattituck was cracked in half after a crash early Friday morning, fire officials said.

According to the Mattituck Fire Department, the crash happened at about 3:40 a.m. at the intersection of Main Road and Bay Avenue.

Upon arrival, crews found that a single vehicle had struck a utility pole, cracking the pole in half, the MFD said.

The single occupant of the car was able to self -extricate from the vehicle and was evaluated by the rescue squad while the crew from Heavy Rescue 2 secured the vehicle and checked it for any further potential dangers, officials said.

The westbound lane was closed while waiting for PSEG to respond and secure the broken pole, the MFD said.
