Nor'easter Wraps Up On LI: What To Expect Monday, And During Week Ahead

LONG ISLAND, NY — Hours after a powerful nor'easter socked Long Island with high winds, heavy rain, coastal flooding, downed trees, and power outages, Monday's weather promises a pivot, according to the National Weather Service.

According to Bryan Ramsey, meteorologist with the National Weather Service, a light drizzle is expected to fall Monday through late afternoon as the weakening low lingers in the area.

That rainfall will dissipate as the low begins to depart the area Monday night. "By tonight, things are looking dry," Ramsey aid.

Winds are also "not expected to be a problem Monday. The low is looking pretty week — it's nothing like the last couple of days," he said.

Full nor'easter rainfall totals for the region are expected to be posted by the NWS sometime Monday.

A coastal flood advisory remain in effect until 3 p.m. Monday

Showers, mainly before 2 p.m. High near 65. North wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
