• Century-Old Colt .25 Caliber Pistol Seized, Gun Owner Arrested: Police (patch.com) — Ossining residents are being told about a weekend arrest after local police seized a 100-year-old Colt .25 caliber pistol from a suspect in town. Officers say the unloaded gun had a defaced serial number and the person carrying it lacked a pistol permit, leading to confiscation of the firearm and the suspect's arrest.

• Briarcliff Sustainability Committee to Launch Food Scraps Dropoff Program (riverjournalonline.com) — Briarcliff Manor is launching a new food-scrap dropoff site that many Ossining-town residents in the village have been requesting as an alternative to driving to Ossining's Cedar Lane Park facility. Inspired partly by Ossining's successful program, Briarcliff will give away 100 free starter kits at Community Day and then sell additional kits at cost. The scraps will be composted in Cortlandt Manor with state grant support.

• Ossining Man Arrested Following Domestic Incident in Town of Somers (yonkerstimes.com) — An Ossining resident has been charged in connection with a serious domestic incident that allegedly occurred near the Muscoot Reservoir in Somers earlier this month. State Police say the victim escaped after being assaulted and threatened, and multiple felony and misdemeanor charges were filed. The defendant was released on recognizance and is due back in Somers Town Court on August 24.
