• The Heroes Of Hawkes Avenue Fire Honored In Ossining (patch.com) — Ossining residents are being urged to recognize the lifesaving work of 10 local first responders who evacuated a Hawkes Avenue apartment building after lightning sparked a massive fire on August 7. The Ossining Town Board formally honored an Ossining Fire Department lieutenant, a foreman, and eight village police officers for clearing the multi-family building in minutes without protective gear as conditions worsened. • Archdiocese of New York Announces New Catholic School Principals for 2026–2027 (thegoodnewsroom.org) — Ossining quietly played host to the Archdiocese of New York's three-day onboarding program for nine newly appointed Catholic school principals, held at Windrose on Hudson earlier this month. While the principals will serve schools in Yonkers, the Bronx, Manhattan, Fishkill, and Irvington, their leadership training and spiritual formation were rooted in sessions conducted right here along the Hudson.
