The Upon Request Law saves businesses and consumers money by eliminating the purchase and disposal of stuff nobody uses or wants! Few businesses are aware of this county law so compliance isn’t great. Join us as we launch a community initiative to educate businesses and the public about the law. We will be joined by County Legislator Erika Pierce (District 2), who sponsored the legislation which took effect in 2023, and Judith Enck from Beyond Plastics.

For eight years during the Revolutionary War, Massachusetts volunteer Lemuel Snow spent much of his time in the Hudson Highlands. &nbsp;From Peekskill to Saratoga, Valley Forge, Monmouth, and Providence, he faced the hardships that every soldier endured. &nbsp;He witnessed the execution of British officer, Major John Andre; was with Washington at Verplanck's Point to greet Rochambeau; witnessed the Evacuation of New York at the war's end; and attended Washington's farewell. &nbsp;After the war, he returned to Barnstable, Massachusetts, before moving his family west to settle in what would become Indiana. &nbsp;This story is an epic tale of one man's love for his country and family. &nbsp;Join local historian and lecturer Kirk Moldoff to learn more about this fascinating American patriot and to celebrate our 250th year of independence!&nbsp; Visit the library's Web site to register.

In this four-week class&nbsp;(July 18, 25; August 1, 8), Inner Sage Yoga Founder Mareesa Nicosia leads a Kripalu-style yoga class that is designed for all levels, including beginners.&nbsp; Build strength, improve flexibility, energize your nervous system, and have some fun! Teaching will focus on breathwork, alignment, and protecting the joints.&nbsp;&nbsp;

This residency project develops an ongoing choreographic work that began with Orihara's 2014 solo Prologue (performed at La MaMa), originally centered on her relationship with her mother and now expanding to explore the broader influence of “mothers”—women she has encountered who have profoundly shaped her life and artistic voice. Tentatively titled Resonance, the project will evolve through a series of workshops, an open rehearsal, and a final performance. A key inspiration for Orihara is her late teacher Nanako Yamada, who transmitted Dalcroze’s “20 gestures,” an early modern dance practice that influenced both Japanese and American pioneers. During the residency, Orihara will share a selection of these gestures with participants, guiding them to develop their own movement vocabularies and collaboratively build new material. An open rehearsal will provide space to experiment and deepen the work, while the culminating performance will present this evolving choreography, incorporating projection and video in collaboration with a videographer, as she continues to investigate the intersection of memory, lineage, and embodied resonance.&nbsp;
