• Veterans Day events on the North Shore (tbrnewsmedia.com) — Port Jefferson Station residents can honor veterans at VFW Post 4927, 34 Lamport Ave., on Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. The ceremony will include speeches, wreath-laying tributes and Color Guard honors, followed by light fare and fellowship, as North Shore communities hold their own observances. 
• Movers & Shakers: November 2026 hires, promotions on Long Island (longislandpress.com) — James E. Danowski, a partner emeritus at Port Jefferson Station accounting firm Cullen & Danowski, has been named board chair at Jefferson's Ferry. A board member since 2010, he also serves on Mather Hospital's advisory board and chairs the JTM Health Facilities Foundation.
• Joseph J. Morrissey (gcnews.com) — Joseph James Morrissey of Yaphank died Oct. 22 at 52 after a brief illness. Known to family and friends as Joey, he spent decades with Maryhaven and IGHL programs and loved music and old-time television. His family requests memorial donations to Maryhaven Center of Hope in Port Jefferson Station.
