• North Hempstead's Harbor Links Named Best Golf Course in Nassau County (longisland.com) — Harbor Links Golf Course in Port Washington has just been voted the best golf course in Nassau County, capping a year of major upgrades and new technology at the town-owned facility. With nearly $2 million invested in improvements, from a high-tech driving range to renovated dining and even robot drink delivery, the course is positioning itself as a modern, accessible destination for Port Washington golfers of all ages.
   

• Town hires firm to defend OK for Sbarro family's plan (newsday.com) — Port Washington residents challenging the Inspiration Wharf redevelopment just saw the Town of North Hempstead hire a specialized outside law firm to defend its approval of the project. The lawsuit argues the town skipped a full environmental review and that the 38-unit mixed-use plan could restrict public access to Manhasset Bay, while residents seek to halt work and overturn key approvals.
   

• Long Island fall fairs and festivals 2026 (newsday.com) — Port Washington families can look forward to a free Pumpkin Festival at the United Methodist Church on Oct. 3 and the Gold Coast International Film Festival coming to town Oct. 12-30. Beyond that, there's a packed calendar of fall fairs, food festivals, craft shows, and Halloween events across Long Island, many within an easy drive for a seasonal day trip.
