• National Grid to pause shutoffs in Capital Region during extreme heat (cbs6albany.com) — If you live in Rensselaer, National Grid will pause electric shutoffs on days when the heat index is forecast at 90 degrees or higher, and for two days after in designated heat islands. The policy, covering many Capital Region communities, is meant to protect vulnerable residents during dangerous summer heat while the utility continues offering payment assistance programs. 
• Libraries partner with United Way to expand digital access in rural communities (news10.com) — Residents in Rensselaer County will soon see better access to affordable internet, loaner devices, and hands-on digital training through a new $100,000 United Way partnership with local libraries. The initiative targets rural communities in Rensselaer, Schenectady, and Saratoga Counties, aiming to help families apply for jobs, access health records, and stay connected online.
