Town Issues Safety Advisory As Shotgun Deer Hunting Program Kicks Off

RIVERHEAD, NY — Riverhead Town officials have issued a safety advisory as a shotgun deer hunting program kicks off.

Riverhead Town-owned property, including a parcel at 1751 Sound Avenue in Calverton and EPCAL, including the recreational path, woods and field, will be closed to the public "in the interest of public safety," town officials said.

The closures begin on January 4 and run through January 31, inclusive, officials said; hunting is by Town of Riverhead permit only.

The dog park will remain open, officials said.
