Join BridgeMusik for an afternoon of chamber music as part of the BridgeMusik Summer Festival 2026, We the Music – Celebrating 250 Years of American Voices.
This special free Chamber Hour concert explores the musical voices that helped shape American culture through immigration, artistic exchange, and the blending of traditions from around the world. Performed by a string quartet of BridgeMusik artists, the program celebrates the connections between European musical heritage and the evolving American experience.
The program features Antonín Dvořák's beloved "American" String Quartet, written during the composer's time in the United States and inspired by the people, landscapes, and musical traditions he encountered here. Through Dvořák's music and other selections, the concert reflects the cultural diversity and artistic influences that continue to shape American musical life.
Inspired by the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States, this year's BridgeMusik Summer Festival explores the rich tapestry of American musical life through the works of American composers, jazz innovators, and immigrant artists who helped shape the nation's cultural identity.
Festival highlights include Stravinsky's The Soldier's Tale, the world premiere of Dedication to Faust by Thomas Cabaniss, a newly commissioned work by The Dolphins Quartet, free Chamber Hour library concerts, community performances, student recitals, and collaborations between emerging musicians and professional artists.
Following opening weekend, the festival continues throughout Rockland County with free Chamber Hour library concerts, community performances, student recitals, and special events celebrating American musical voices across generations.

This special one-hour program explores the many voices that have shaped American musical life through works by Aaron Copland, William Bolcom, and Igor Stravinsky.
The program includes Copland's lyrical Sonata for Clarinet and Piano, Bolcom's beloved Graceful Ghost Rag for violin and piano, and selections from Stravinsky's The Soldier's Tale Suite for clarinet, violin, and piano. Together, these works highlight the diversity of American musical traditions while reflecting the festival's celebration of composers, innovators, and immigrant artists whose contributions helped define the American cultural landscape.
Presented at the Finkelstein Memorial Library Fielding Room, this concert offers audiences an opportunity to explore connections between American composers and one of the festival's featured artists, Igor Stravinsky, whose The Soldier's Tale opens the festival at the Nyack Center on August 1–2.
