• Man found dead near Genesee River Trail identified (democratandchronicle.com) — Rochester police have identified the man found dead Sunday near the Genesee River Trail by Vincent Street as 22-year-old Munga Elocho, a city resident originally from the Republic of the Congo. Investigators believe he was killed elsewhere and moved to the wooded area, and are still working with the Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office to determine when, where, and how he died.
   

• Ward Family Scholarship Honors Rochester Couple's Legacy of Education and Community Service (minorityreporter.net) — A Rochester family is offering two $500 Jerome & Gloria Ward College Scholarships this fall to honor the couple's deep roots in the city's Black community and public service. Graduating seniors entering college can apply by Aug. 31, 2026, with essays, recommendations, and proof of financial need, keeping the Wards' legacy of education and community involvement alive for local youth.
   

• First Federal Plaza in Rochester: New owners open to ideas for iconic 21st floor space (whec.com) — Downtown Rochester's First Federal Plaza has a new owner, Excelsior Communities, which is turning the tower into a mixed-use destination and reimagining its spaceship-like 21st floor. Locals are being invited to pitch ideas—from a revived restaurant to a nightclub or museum—as design work begins and construction is targeted within 12 to 18 months.
