Hazmat Team Dispatched To House Fire In Bay Park, Officials Say

A house fire in Bay Park drew the presence of about 70 firefighters Monday afternoon including a hazardous materials team, officials say.

BAY PARK, NY — The Nassau County Fire Marshal dispatched its hazardous materials division to the site of a fire on Waterview Street Monday afternoon after the fire did damage to a pair of single-family homes, officials said.

The fire marshal’s office said the fire was called in at 2:16 p.m. Monday, with East Rockaway first on the scene of a deck and single-family house fire. Mutual aid came from the Island Park, Lynbrook, Oceanside, Rockville Centre and Woodmere Fire Departments, as well as Atlantic Beach Rescue, with a total firefighting presence of about 70 people, officials said.

Just after 3:30 p.m., fire officials said that firefighting force was still operating on the scene of the fire. No injuries had been reported at the time, and one person who lived there had been displaced, officials said.
