Oceanside FD scrambled to a Hampton Road recycling business Wednesday after a tractor trailer caught fire, the department says.
OCEANSIDE, NY — Fire department personnel were called to a Hampton Road recycling business in the early hours of Wednesday morning after a tractor trailer caught fire, authorities said.
Oceanside Fire Department officials said the alarm was raised at 3:56 a.m. at Patriot Recycling, located at 3631 Hampton Rd., with two fire engines, one ladder and an ambulance scrambling to the scene under the command of two department chiefs.
The fire, officials said, broke out in a tractor trailer carrying construction refuse and was spreading to a neighboring truck when the first units on the scene arrived. The fire was brought under control without any injuries being reported in a firefighting effort that included the use of heavy machinery to pull the truck and the debris apart, officials said.
