Police Identify 76-Year-Old Who Died After Hempstead Car Crash
The Nassau County Police Department has identified the 76-year-old man who died in a car crash Friday morning.
HEMPSTEAD, NY — Police have identified the 76-year-old man who died after being struck by an SUV in Hempstead Friday morning.
According to police, 76-year-old Hempstead resident James Johnson, Jr. was walking at the intersection of Jerusalem Avenue and Henry Street Friday, May 15 at 11 a.m. when he was struck by a Nissan Pathfinder. Johnson was taken to the hospital after suffering severe trauma in the crash and was later pronounced dead, police said.
The 47-year-old woman driving the SUV remained at the scene of the crash, police said. No charges or arrests stemming from the crash have been announced.
