Rome murder suspect facing assault charges (cnyhomepage.com) — A man already charged in connection with a Rome homicide is now accused of assaulting another inmate at the Oneida County jail, sending the victim to a Utica hospital for treatment. Authorities say the suspect, held on a second-degree murder charge in the death of a Rome man found on Railroad Street, now also faces a felony assault count while awaiting separate court dates.

Prison Contraband Suspect in Rome City Court (wktv.com) — A woman accused of bringing multiple dangerous drugs into Mohawk Correctional Facility appeared in Rome City Court, where she pleaded not guilty and was released under supervision. The corrections officer who was critically sickened by the exposure, now dealing with lasting health issues, says she feels the system has failed her as prosecutors consider additional charges.
