Brookhaven Town Police Blotter: Aug. 24 to Aug. 30, 2026

BROOKHAVEN TOWN, NY — Suffolk's first responders were busy last week, according to the Suffolk County Police Department and other first responders’ logs.

Here's a snapshot of some incidents and arrests:

CENTEREACH

• An 18-year-old Riverhead man was arrested Aug. 27 and charged with unlawful speed contest in connection with an incident at Centereach Mall in Centereach.
• A 26-year-old man was charged with second-degree menacing on Aug. 27 in connection with an incident at Centereach Mall in Centereach. Further details were not available.
• Marc Roman, 28, of Centereach was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon for an incident on Portion Road in Ronkonkoma on Aug. 29. Further details were not available.

CORAM

• Two 17-year-old boys — one from Middle Island, the other Gordon Heights — were slapped with trespassing and weapon possession charges for an incident on Country Club Drive in Coram on Aug. 27. The pair were charged with three counts of trespassing and one count each of criminal possession of a weapon, and third-and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. Further details were not available.

FARMINGVILLE

• A 30-year-old Farmingville woman was charged with third-degree assault in connection with getting into a fight with two other people at a home on William Street on Aug. 30.

HOLBROOK

• A 62-year-old Holbrook resident and a 56-year-old man were charged with public lewdness on Aug. 25 in Melville.
• A resident reported that part of a window was broken at a home on Grundy Avenue in Holbrook on Aug. 29. No charges were filed.
• The lock of an office building on Church Street in Holbrook was discovered picked at around 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 29.

LAKE RONKONKOMA

• John Hargett, 43, of Lake Ronkonkoma, was charged with felony driving while intoxicated after his vehicle crashed into an unoccupied vehicle on Smithtown Boulevard in Lake Ronkonkoma on Aug. 24. He pleaded not guilty and was released with non-monetary conditions following his arraignment in First District Court in Central Islip, online court records show.
• Anthony Rosati, 37, of Lake Ronkonkoma was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance: intent to sell, and criminal use of drug paraphernalia on Aug. 26. Further details were not available.
• A small shed fire was extinguished at around 1:15 a.m. on Monday on Samuel Street in Lake Ronkonkoma.

MEDFORD

• A 64-year-old man from Medford and a 71-year-old man from Dix Hills were charged with public lewdness on Aug. 28 at a location on the North Service Road in Melville.

NORTH BELLPORT

• A 50-year-old North Bellport man was charged on Aug. 24 with torturing and/or injuring an animal for not providing proper shelter for a dog kept outside.
• A woman reported that someone used pepper spray in an argument at a location on Montauk Highway in North Bellport on Aug. 29. She was not hurt. No charges were filed.

PATCHOGUE

• Officers responded to a dispute on Patchogue Avenue at around 11 p.m. on Sunday between two people who knew each other. No arrests were made.
• Taylor Altman, 25, and Alyssa Pecoraro, 30, both of Shirley, were charged with second-degree assault after a fight at a bar on West Main Street in Patchogue on Aug.25. Further details were not available.

RIDGE

• Officers responded to a domestic dispute on William Floyd Parkway in Ridge at around 12:20 p.m. on Thursday. No one was injured, and no charges were filed.

RONKONKOMA

• The patron of a massage parlor reported that they were at a location on Veterans Memorial Highway when they paid for a massage and then threatened by a man at around 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 26.

SETAUKET

• Three men were charged with grand larceny for swiping $18,000 worth of roofing material from The Home Depot in Setauket last week. They include Jonathan Suarez, 31, of New Windsor; Wilfredo Arangocalle, 38; and Armando Diaz, 52. No further details were available. Suarez pleaded not guilty, and was released on his own recognizance following his arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip, online court records show. Diaz is due in court on Aug. 9, according to the records. Arangocalle’s court information was not available.

SHIRLEY

• One man was taken to the hospital after being cut with a box cutter at a home in Shirley on Aug. 25. Lonnie Booker of Shirley was charged with second-degree assault. Booker pleaded not guilty, and his bail was set at $30,000, $90,000 insured bond, and $300,000 partially secured surety bond following his arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip, online court records show. A temporary order of protection was issued, according to the records.

• Edward Garcia-Guzman, 36, of Shirley was charged with felony driving while intoxicated on William Floyd Parkway at Dawn Drive in Shirley on Sunday. He pleaded not guilty, and his driver’s license was suspended at his arraignment in First District Court in Central Islip, online records show.

TERRYVILLE

• Two bikes were reported stolen from the garage of a home on Justin Circle at around 10:15 p.m. on Aug. 25.

YAPHANK

• A resident reported that their car was spray-painted while it was parked on Yaphank Avenue in Yaphank on Aug. 26.
• A 60-year-old Hampton Bays was charged with second-degree menacing in connection with a road rage incident on Victory Avenue in Yaphank on Aug. 29.
