HOLBROOK, NY — A Brentwood man was charged Monday in connection with promoting prostitution after a probe by the county's Human Trafficking Investigations Unit into his recruitment for sex work at a Holbrook motel, Suffolk police said.

The investigation was carried out with the help of the Warrant Enforcement Section, and James Seccadanari, 49, was arrested at a home on Calebs Path at around 9:35 p.m., according to police.

The investigation, which began with a tip collected last fall during a Highway Patrol arrest, revealed Seccadanari, who was a former maintenance employee of MacArthur Inn on Veterans Memorial Highway in Holbrook, recruited women for commercial sex work there, police said.

Seccadanari was charged with third-degree promoting prostitution, a felony, according to police.

He was held overnight at the 3rd Precinct in Bay Shore and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday, police said.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about Seccadanari, or other suspects, to call the Human Trafficking Investigations Unit at 631-854-7512, or Crime Stoppers' confidential hotline at 1-800-220-8477.
