Saratogians speak on proposed zoning amendments at City Council meeting (saratogian.com) — Saratoga Springs residents packed the latest City Council meeting to debate proposed changes to the city’s Unified Development Ordinance, especially rules that could ease demolition of historic buildings. Preservation advocates and homeowners offered sharply different views on balancing historic character with property costs, and officials scheduled another public hearing for Oct. 20 so locals can weigh in before any vote.

Saratoga Springs proposes 18 percent property tax increase, staffing cuts (cbs6albany.com) — Saratoga Springs officials are weighing an 18 percent property tax increase and staffing cuts to close a multimillion-dollar budget gap projected through 2027. Rising insurance and pension costs, plus the end of a federal grant for the new fire station, are driving the shortfall as leaders review hiring, expenses, capital projects, and nonprofit funding.
   

4. 430 Broadway Hits Market for 14.9 Million (saratogatodaynewspaper.com) — A cornerstone of downtown Saratoga Springs, the mixed-use building at 430–436 Broadway, home to businesses like Esperanto and Tin and Lint, has hit the market for $14.9 million. After more than a century of Walbridge family ownership and a key role in downtown’s revitalization, the sale is pitched as a chance for new stewards to shape the city’s future.
   

5. Lincoln Bath Reopens Following Renovations (saratogatodaynewspaper.com) — Saratoga Springs’ historic Lincoln Bathhouse has reopened after a $6.9 million renovation that improves accessibility, parking, and connections within Saratoga Spa State Park. The project also relocates the park’s gift shop and offices there and introduces the new Saratoga Museum of Hydrotherapy, which will open on a limited weekend schedule starting Oct. 10 and 11 for public feedback.
