Man Shoots Another Man In Leg In Argument In Gas Station's Market Area In Mastic Beach: Police

MASTIC BEACH, NY — A man shot another man as the two quarreled at Track Gas Station in Mastic Beach early Sunday morning, Suffolk police said.

Sammie Darby and another man were arguing inside the Neighborhood Road gas station's market at around 1:15 a.m., and they were asked to leave, and continued arguing outside when Darby shot the man in the leg, according to police.

The man, 29, was taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk in East Patchogue for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Darby, 48, who has no last known address, was arrested a short time later and charged with second-degree assault, according to police.

He was held overnight at the 6th Precinct in Selden and was scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in
Central Islip on Monday.
