• Suffolk County SPCA Offering Free Rabies Vaccination Clinic in Smithtown on September 13 (town.news) — Smithtown pet owners can get free rabies shots for dogs, cats, and ferrets at the Suffolk County SPCA clinic on Sunday, Sept. 13, at the William J. Lindsay Complex on Veterans Memorial Highway. Open to all Suffolk residents, the event runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with vaccinations given while supplies last and basic leashing and carrier rules in place.

• Gold Tree In Huntington Honors Children Fighting, Lost To Cancer (patch.com) — Families connected to childhood cancer just gathered at Huntington Town Hall for the Daniela Conte Foundation's annual gold tree lighting, and the group will join Smithtown's Pediatric Cancer Awareness Tree Lighting at Town Hall on Sept. 8. Smithtown's 4:30 p.m. ceremony will feature gold lights and personalized ribbons honoring children battling cancer, survivors, and those who have died, extending the monthlong awareness effort.
