Historic Embroidery: 18th Century Botanical Design

Led by fiber artist Erica-Lynn Huberty, this hands-on workshop explores the art of textile needlework as practiced in Southampton during the 17th and 18th centuries.

Continuing to explore historic embroidery, this class will focus on intermediate to more advanced hand embroidery stitches, in particular Botanical designs which were popular in Southampton Colony at the time of the Revolution. Participants will learn to translate a line drawing into an embroidered botanical image. The class will cover principles of composition and design, color theory, and  learning and practice of a set of specific stitches.  

Space is extremely limited for this wonderful experience. Advanced ticket purchase is required.

Workshop Cost: $20.00 per person 

Materials included:  Hoop, Muslin with Pre-drawn Design, Pencil for Drawing, Needle and Embroidery Floss.

Erica-Lynn Huberty is pioneer in the contemporary fiber arts movement. Her work mingles textiles and sewing arts techniques with watercolor and ink, embroidery, crochet and knitting, loom-woven grounds, mediums overlapping as if done simultaneously.
