LONG ISLAND, NY — A high rip current risk is in effect for parts of Long Island through Monday evening, the National Weather Service said.
According to the NWS, the dangerous rip currents are expected in southern Suffolk and Nassau Counties.
"Life-threatening rip currents are likely for all people entering the surf zone. Anyone visiting the beaches should stay out of the surf. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water," the NWS said.
