• Man Struggling In Water During Mighty Hamptons Triathlon Dies: Police (patch.com) — A triathlete died after being pulled unconscious from Noyack Bay during the Mighty Hamptons Triathlon in Southampton, with town police and lifeguards rushing him to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities say the cause of death remains under investigation by Southampton Town detectives and the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, and no additional details have been released yet.

• Southampton Man Pleads Guilty to Leaving Scene Of Crash That Killed Pedestrian (longisland.com) — A 34-year-old Southampton man has pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of a March 2024 crash that killed a pedestrian walking along Springville Road near Neptune Avenue. Prosecutors say Southampton Town Police used debris, surveillance video, and GPS data to trace the damaged GMC pickup to the driver, who now faces sentencing in November in Suffolk County court.
