Speeding Motorist Flees Police, Crashes Into Hamptons Yard: Officials

He was taken to the hospital for treatment, police say.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A Manorville man was arrested after fleeing from police and crashing into the year of someone's home in Southampton recently, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, the incident took place on May 30 at about 2:38 a.m., when an officer observed a driver operating a vehicle at high rate of speed, and driving in a reckless manor in the area of North Sea Road in Southampton.

Upon attempting to conduct a traffic stop, the driver fled at a high rate of speed and left the area, police said.

The vehicle was located a short time later after it had crashed into a yard of a residence on Sebonac Road, police said.

Southampton Town police officers located and arrested Kymani Coombs, 24; he was arrested at the scene and transported to the hospital for treatment, police said.

Coombs was charged with unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, and driving while ability impaired by the combined influence of drugs or alcohol, a misdemeanor, along with multiple traffic violations, police said.

He was released from the hospital and transported to Southampton Town police headquarters for processing; he was later transported to court for a morning arraignment, police said.
