• O'Malley backs Flynn, as field for Tonawanda town supervisor appointment narrows (btpm.org) — Tonawanda’s Democratic committee is weighing whom to recommend for town supervisor after Joe Emminger’s early departure, with Councilwoman Jill O’Malley now backing former DA John Flynn. The all-Democratic board will appoint someone for the rest of 2026, ahead of a November special election that will decide who leads the town in 2027. 
• WNY business brings back Stanley Cup replica (wgrz.com) — A Town of Tonawanda metal fabrication company, Goergen-Mackwirth, has rolled out its massive eight-foot stainless-steel Stanley Cup replica as Sabres playoff hopes return. The towering 300‑pound cup, once displayed at Hertel and Elmwood, may even join a future victory parade if the team goes all the way.
• 'Energy hog' bus tour takes aim at data centers around New York (wamc.org) — A proposed AI data center at the former Tonawanda Coke site is drawing fire from environmental advocates, who kicked off a statewide “energy hog” bus tour in town. They argue the massive 300‑megawatt facility could strain the grid, raise local utility bills, and offer too few jobs, while the developer insists this project will avoid problems seen at other data centers.
