Pratt, Munson won't renew partnership in Utica campus, expiring June 2028 (uticaod.com) — Pratt Institute and Munson have agreed not to renew their Pratt Munson College of Art & Design partnership in Utica after June 2028, reshaping local art education. Current students and the Fall 2026 class can finish two years in Utica, while a 2027 cohort will complete only one year there as Munson plans a new program to support Central New York's creative economy.

3. 2 stores at Oneida Square raided (uticaod.com) — Law enforcement and regulatory agencies raided two Oneida Square stores in Utica, seizing suspected synthetic cannabis, kratom, nearly 600 flavored vapes, untaxed cigarettes and cash. Romano's Convenience was shut down, UT-One Grocery and Deli was sanctioned, and officials say lab results and further investigation will determine criminal charges under new county rules targeting these products.

NYSDOT Begins Transformative $62M Utica Street Project (transportation.org) — Work has started on a $62 million overhaul of North Genesee Street in Utica, including new Mohawk River and Erie Canal bridges and wider shared-use paths. Running through 2028, the project aims to improve safety, traffic flow, and Empire State Trail access while creating a more attractive northern gateway between downtown Utica and the Thruway.

Former Oneida County deputy sentenced to 25 years in Utica attempted murder-arson case (cnycentral.com) — A former Oneida County sheriff's deputy has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after being convicted of setting fire to an occupied home on Kellogg Avenue in Utica. Prosecutors said he targeted his infant child and the child's mother and grandparents, who escaped, and investigators tied his patrol vehicle and surveillance footage to the early-morning blaze.
