Westchester DA Bake Sale Raises Nearly $5,700 For Domestic Violence Survivors
Funds from the White Plains event will go to New Dawn Family Resource Center in North Salem later this month.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — The Westchester County District Attorney’s Office said its second annual Domestic Violence Awareness Month bake sale raised $5,661 to support domestic violence survivors, topping last year’s total by about $2,400.
District Attorney Susan Cacace announced the fundraising total and said the proceeds will be donated to New Dawn Family Resource Center in North Salem. The nonprofit provides services and resources to individuals and families affected by domestic violence and trauma throughout Northern Westchester, according to the announcement.
The Oct. 8 bake sale was organized by the DA’s Office Domestic Violence Bureau, which is part of the Special Prosecutions Division, in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The event included homemade desserts as well as baked goods and bagels from The Farm Café, Mount Kisco Bagel Company, and Baked After Midnight. Raffle prizes were also awarded, with winners notified by phone.

"Thank you to everyone who baked, donated, volunteered, and supported our 2nd Annual Domestic Violence Awareness Month Bake Sale," Cacace said. "Your generosity helped us sell out, exceed last year’s fundraising total by nearly $2,400, and make this meaningful contribution to New Dawn Family Resource Center possible. Domestic violence is a devastating problem that can affect anyone and it is vital that survivors know there are organizations like New Dawn they can turn to for help and guidance. I am incredibly proud of my Domestic Violence Bureau for raising these funds to help strengthen survivors’ access to the essential services they need to heal and rebuild their lives free from abuse."
Lynn Borsellino, president of the New Dawn Family Resource Center, said the money will help fund direct support for survivors.

"We are incredibly grateful to everyone at the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office who helped raise $5,661 for New Dawn Family Resource Center," Borsellino said. "These are people who work every day with victims facing some of the most difficult moments of their lives yet still find the time and energy to do even more. These funds will help us provide trauma therapy, emergency financial assistance, food, housing support, and other essential resources to survivors in need. I would like to send a special thank you to District Attorney Susan Cacace, Special Counsel Fred Green, and Domestic Violence Bureau Chief Joyce Miller for their continued support. Their compassion extends well beyond the courtroom, and we cannot thank them enough."
The proceeds will be presented to New Dawn Family Resource Center during a brief ceremony later this month.
