Gov. Hochul, Jewish Leaders, Open New Food Pantry In Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG, NY — Governor Kathy Hochul along with Jewish leaders and local elected officials opened a new food pantry run by United Jewish Organization of Williamsburg and North Brooklyn this week.

The new food pantry opened aheaf of the High Holy Days at the W Mall.

In addition, Hochul also took part with a pre-Rosh Hashanah food distribution serving 250 families.

Food packages included holiday staples such as proteins, dairy products, eggs and fresh produce, providing families with essential ingredients for their holiday meals.

The initiative aims to address food insecurity in the community while helping families celebrate Rosh Hashanah with dignity, nourishment and loved ones.

The new pantry expands access to food assistance for Williamsburg and North Brooklyn residents as the community prepares for the Jewish New Year.

Rabbi David Niederman, Met Council CEO David Greenfield, Attorney General Tish James, NYC Comptroller Mark Levine, and NYC Council Member Lincoln Restler also attended the event.

“We owe it to the Governor, providing resources to our communities to be able to deliver much -needed social services and food,” Niederman said.
