Artist Trading Card Events at Charlotte Studio Artists - swap cards and create (charlotteonthecheap.com) — Local artists and doodlers can gather at Charlotte Studio Artists on North Davidson Street for free monthly Artist Trading Card nights, starting August 26. Held every fourth Wednesday, these Charlotte meetups invite you to bring supplies, create mini artworks, and swap at least 10 cards with fellow creatives in a relaxed, social setting.
   

2. Charlotte FC to honor cancer survivor during D.C. United match (wsoctv.com) — Charlotte FC is spotlighting local cancer survivor and Rugs.com employee Darwin Cortez as honorary captain at a home match, highlighting his successful treatment at Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital. The club recently joined Rugs.com to deliver comfort packages to patients at Atrium Health's Levine Cancer infusion center, underscoring ongoing community support in Charlotte.
   

3. Girls in Aviation Day at Sullenberger Aviation Museum Sept. 19 - free for kids and teens (charlotteonthecheap.com) — Families can take their kids to a free Girls in Aviation Day at Charlotte's Sullenberger Aviation Museum on September 19, with hands-on STEM activities, simulators, and meet-and-greets with aviation professionals. Youth under 18 get in free with preregistration, while accompanying adults pay regular museum admission, making it an accessible way to explore aviation careers close to home.
   

4. Guardian Angels's GoFundMe Profile (gofundme.com) — A Charlotte resident has launched the Guardian Angels fundraiser to help local families, single parents, and veterans facing eviction, homelessness, or sudden financial emergencies. Donations will go toward essentials like housing, food, and utilities, with the organizer promising transparent reporting so Charlotte donors can see exactly how their contributions support neighbors in crisis.
   

5. Despite hot summers, Charlotte landlords don't have to install AC. That may change (charlotteobserver.com) — Charlotte leaders are weighing a major change that could require landlords to provide air conditioning in rental homes as summers get hotter and heat-related illnesses rise in Mecklenburg County. City Council's Housing Committee is studying how a mandate would work, building on a pilot program that helps low-income renters and landlords with cooling costs but has seen limited landlord participation.
