Residents will have a right to return, while added investments will support new housing, homeownership, commercial façade improvements, trails, and workforce and education programs aimed at revitalizing the Murchison Road corridor.

SteelFab plans $22M expansion in Fayetteville near Murchison Road (fayobserver.com) — SteelFab is investing $22 million to expand its Fayetteville plant near Murchison Road, bringing 42 new well‑paying jobs with starting wages around $59,650. Backed by city, county, and state incentives, the project adds nearly 130,000 square feet of industrial space and underscores confidence in Fayetteville's workforce, manufacturing sector, and military-connected community.

Fayetteville PWC lineworkers earn top honors at 2026 NCAMES Lineman Rodeo (bizfayetteville.com) — Fayetteville's Public Works Commission is celebrating four local lineworkers who earned top finishes at the 2026 statewide NCAMES Lineman Rodeo, showcasing the skill behind your electric service. Their success highlights PWC's emphasis on safety, training, and reliability, and Fayetteville will host next year's competition at the Crown Agri‑Expo Center.
   

4. Fayetteville State seeing record enrollment, retention (carolinapublicpress.org) — Fayetteville State University is hitting record highs in enrollment and retention, now serving more than 7,700 students while keeping in‑state tuition at just $500 per semester through NC Promise. Leaders credit targeted outreach to military and transfer students, data‑driven student support, and new funding that strengthens free summer programs and academic success for local families.
   

5. Golden Corral Erupts Into Chaos Before Woman Unconnected to Brawl Dies (complex.com) — Police are investigating a chaotic multi-person brawl at the Golden Corral on Skibo Road in Fayetteville, where an uninvolved woman suffered a medical emergency and later died at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Investigators say her medical issue appears unrelated to the fight, and they have not yet confirmed reports of gunfire or announced any arrests as they work to piece together what happened.
