• Former Burgaw finance officer pleads guilty to assault, DWI in hit-and-run case (wect.com) — A former Burgaw finance officer has been sentenced after pleading guilty to assault with a deadly weapon and DWI stemming from a hit-and-run that happened on Center Drive near Thornton Drive in Hampstead. Troopers say he struck a 14-year-old on an electric bike, then left the scene; the teen was not hurt, but the incident led to jail time, probation, and his firing from Burgaw.
