• Man arrested after pregnant wife allegedly shot herself in the stomach, killing fetus (local12.com) — Mint Hill police responded after a pregnant woman with a gunshot wound was dropped at Novant Mint Hill Medical Center, and her unborn child later died. Investigators say her husband admitted firing at the ground during an argument before she grabbed the gun and was shot, leading to his arrest on a firearms charge and scrutiny over his actions afterward. 
• ICE picks up alleged gang member from Mecklenburg County after deadly shooting (wsoctv.com) — Federal immigration agents have taken custody of a man linked to a deadly shooting that occurred in Mint Hill, after he was released from the Mecklenburg County jail on bond. Authorities say the suspect, who allegedly fired a gun near his wife before an accidental shot killed her unborn child, was held on an ICE detainer and picked up Thursday morning.
