• Richmond County commissioners approve budget (richmondobserver.com) — Richmond County commissioners in Rockingham have approved a new budget that raises employee pay, boosts funding for rescue squads and schools, and slightly increases solid waste and water rates. Fire district taxes, including East Rockingham’s, are set, and full-time county workers get a 4% raise while keeping free health insurance. The budget isn’t yet posted online despite requests for public access.
