Friends and neighbors can pay their respects at a celebration of life Sunday, June 14, 2026, 3 p.m. at Cecil Burton Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 2 p.m. and private burial afterward.

Atrium sells 4 Charlotte-area nursing facilities to Chicago firm new to the market (heraldonline.com) — Shelby families with loved ones at Cleveland Pines should know Atrium Health has approved selling the nursing facility, along with three others in the region, to Chicago-based Ignite Medical Resorts. The new owner plans renovations and tech upgrades but has not disclosed the sale price, detailed reasons, or a firm timeline for when the transfer of operations will occur.

HighSchoolOT's Male and Female Athletes of the Week for May 4-9 (highschoolot.com) — Shelby High School junior sprinter Noni Oliver has been named HighSchoolOT’s 704-area Female Athlete of the Week after dominating the 3A West Regional meet. She won the 100 and 200 meters and anchored Shelby’s 4x100 and 4x200 relay victories, helping showcase local talent on a statewide stage.
