• Flight paramedic finishes chemotherapy, shares breast cancer journey to encourage screenings (wect.com) — A Wilmington flight paramedic and mother of three is finishing chemotherapy after a surprise breast cancer diagnosis at 39, despite being in excellent shape and having no family history. Her experience, shared with Novant Health's Dr. Fidel Valea, underscores how subtle symptoms can be and urges Wilmington women to prioritize mammograms and early screenings to catch cancer before it advances.
   

• Charlotte Hornets, Gray Media team up to bring Hornets games to more fans across the Carolinas (foxwilmington.com) — Wilmington basketball fans will soon be able to watch Charlotte Hornets games free over the air on WECT and WSFX, plus extensive coverage on WECT 6.3. Beginning this October, the new partnership with Gray Media greatly expands access to live Hornets broadcasts, including pregame and postgame shows, without needing a special streaming service or paid league package.
   

• Seawitch Tiki Bar in Carolina Beach closes, property to become hotel (wect.com) — A well-known Carolina Beach hangout, the SeaWitch Tiki Bar, has closed and will be replaced by a 140-room hotel, a change many Wilmington-area beachgoers will feel. Locals turned out for a farewell auction, snapping up nostalgic items while owners plan a new version of SeaWitch to open by next summer with some familiar touches.
