• Roughrider Electric Cooperative awards high school scholarships (centralnordak.com) — Several Dickinson students, including from Dickinson High School, Trinity, and Hope Christian Academy, have earned Roughrider Electric Cooperative scholarships recognizing local seniors’ achievements. The co-op also partners with Basin Electric and West Dakota Diesel for additional awards. Graduating seniors who are Roughrider members’ dependents can still try for three more scholarships at the June 3 annual meeting in Hazen.

• Teacher Matthew Goettle hopes to inspire DHS students with music (thedickinsonpress.com) — At Dickinson High School, band director Matthew Goettle is pushing about 130 students to tackle challenging music, from classical works to movie soundtracks. Since moving to Dickinson in 2019, he’s expanded jazz, marching and concert band opportunities, taken students to festivals and Chicago, and is eager to use new practice rooms and an upgraded auditorium next year.
