Boschee says City Commisison wasn't hiding Mahoney's FCPH appointment by it being on the consent agenda (kfgo.com) — Fargo Mayor Josh Boschee is defending how the City Commission handled confirming former Mayor Tim Mahoney as Fargo Cass Public Health Officer, after the appointment first appeared on the consent agenda. Boschee says such contracted roles are routinely listed there and could be pulled for discussion, as Commissioner Michelle Turnberg did before raising public questions about transparency and potential cronyism. 
2. Community support drives major milestone: Local ministry donates 740th vehicle (valleynewslive.com) — A Fargo-based ministry just gave away its 740th vehicle, thanks in part to a donated car from Gateway Chevrolet Cadillac of Fargo. The reliable ride is going to a local woman on disability who recently became guardian to her adult niece, helping them reach medical appointments and build long-term stability. Organizers credit generous Fargo-Moorhead donors and volunteers for making the milestone possible.
3. August 25: Boys in Blue (prairiepublic.org) — A former bodyguard to President Abraham Lincoln eventually made his home in Fargo, where he practiced law and became a territorial political leader. This historical piece traces Smith Stimmel's journey from Civil War service to his later years in Fargo, highlighting his role at a 1930 "Boys in Blue" convention and his lifelong connection to Lincoln.
4. Health data of North Dakota developmental disability clients potentially exposed in phishing attack (valleynewslive.com) — A state-announced data breach, disclosed from Fargo, may have exposed personal and health information for North Dakotans receiving developmental disability services. Officials say three employee email accounts were compromised in a July phishing attack, and affected residents are being notified and urged to closely watch their medical and financial accounts for signs of fraud.
5. Health system sees early OBBBA benefits, coming challenges (hfma.org) — Sanford Health leaders say federal healthcare changes are already reshaping how patients use its Fargo medical center, where 40% of patients come from Minnesota. They're using new rural funding to expand access while bracing for 2027 Medicaid work rules and more frequent eligibility checks that could affect coverage for Fargo-area patients, especially those with lower incomes or complex health needs.
