• Lorain County cleans up after damaging winds blow through Lorain, Amherst (news5cleveland.com) — Strong storms Wednesday evening brought two damaging microbursts to Lorain County, toppling trees, damaging homes and briefly disrupting business at Park Lanes Bar and Grille in downtown Amherst. Crews in Lorain and Amherst spent Thursday clearing blocked roads and debris so power restoration and emergency access could continue, and residents say they’re grateful no serious injuries were reported despite the dramatic damage. 
• Budget including $10.4 million in state capital funds for Lorain County awaits DeWine's signature (chroniclet.com) — Amherst-area residents stand to benefit from Ohio’s new capital budget, which includes $160,000 for the Amherst Patriots Park Memorial and $40,000 for the Amherst Quarry Museum, plus other Lorain County projects. Local lawmakers from Avon, North Ridgeville and Amherst Township say the $10.4 million package will improve parks, health services, education facilities and community infrastructure if signed by Gov. DeWine.
