• New skate park a hit at Walnut Beach (gazettenews.com) — Skaters and families now have a free, community-built skate park at Walnut Beach in Ashtabula, set up in a pavilion near the new playground and bocci courts. Local volunteers, donors, and city leaders helped repurpose ramps from a Cleveland event, and residents say the busy new spot is already bringing fresh energy and excitement back to the beach.
   

• Ashtabula County defense manufacturer ITEN Defense set to more than double in size (news5cleveland.com) — A Saybrook Township defense manufacturer is more than doubling its Ashtabula County facility, bringing up to 100 new jobs and advanced body-armor technology to the area. Backed by $20 million in federal defense funding, the expansion aims to keep local graduates and returning families working in the county, with the new operation expected to be running early next year.
   

• ODH: Measles case count expected to rise, cyclosporiasis updates (wfmj.com) — Measles cases tied to an ongoing Northeast Ohio outbreak now include recent infections in Ashtabula County, and health officials expect the statewide count to grow. Ohio’s health director is urging vaccinations as measles and a serious cyclosporiasis outbreak spread, stressing careful food handling and prompt medical treatment for severe diarrhea or dehydration.
