Avon Lake Play Space reopening this month with dedication ceremony (cleveland.com) — Avon Lake families can check out the newly rebuilt Avon Lake Play Space when it officially reopens with a public dedication ceremony at Bleser Park on April 24 at 10 a.m. The redesigned ALPS playground emphasizes accessibility, safety and multi-generational use, replacing the beloved but aging wooden structure removed in 2021. City officials call it a major investment in local families and public space.

Avon Lake Collective Committee gives city updates (cleveland.com) — Avon Lake City Council committees just reviewed stormwater issues, City Hall mold cleanup, and a possible shift to self-funded employee health insurance that could save hundreds of thousands annually. Members also weighed bond options for Walker Road and Electric Boulevard projects, monitored a 4.6% dip in income tax collections, and advanced a Moore Road land purchase for utilities expansion.
   

3. Avon Lake helping folks go green, save green (cleveland.com) — Avon Lake residents can now turn food scraps and yard waste into free compost and mulch through the city’s partnership with Rust Belt Riders at the Service Department on Avon Belden Road. For a $12 monthly subscription, participants get 24/7 bin access, optional home pickup, and discounts on nutrient-rich soil, while helping divert tons of waste from landfills and cutting gardening costs.
   

4. Morning Journal softball Top of the Crop for April 16 (morningjournal.com) — Avon Lake’s softball team has slipped out of the Morning Journal’s Top of the Crop rankings after a 2-4 start and a 10-0 loss to North Ridgeville. The list now highlights other Lorain County and West Side programs climbing the standings, including Elyria Catholic at No. 1 and strong showings from Midview, Avon and Keystone.
