1. Avon man indicted on 2 felonies for alleged barroom assault in Wellington in July (chroniclet.com) — An Avon resident has been indicted on two felonious assault charges in Lorain County Common Pleas Court after an alleged July incident at a Wellington bar. The 21-year-old, a former Avon Eagles football player and current Ohio University student, is accused of injuring another man with a glass bottle and is scheduled for arraignment later this month.
   

2. H.S. Football: Avon beats St. Ignatius with late TD and 2-point conversion (chroniclet.com) — Avon High School's football team opened the season in dramatic fashion, edging St. Ignatius 22-21 on a last-minute touchdown and gutsy two-point conversion in Cleveland. The Avon Eagles, two-time defending Division II state champs, extended their in-state winning streak with big plays from Michael Colburn, Trevor Sykora, Jackson Palmer and Fin Jerdonek.
   

3. OSHP using a plane to catch speeders in I-90 construction zone (fox8.com) — State troopers are now using an airplane to catch speeders through the I-90 construction zone that runs from Elyria past State Route 83 in Avon, aiming to protect workers and drivers. With some motorists clocked at over 100 mph, officials urge Avon-area drivers to slow down, stay patient, and expect strict enforcement until the widening project ends in 2028.
   

4. Sheffield Lake fire simulates water rescue (chroniclet.com) — Sheffield Lake firefighters recently ran a detailed water-rescue training on Lake Erie, calling in a drone from neighboring Avon Lake's fire department to help locate a second simulated victim. The joint exercise tested jet skis, rope systems and coordination so first responders near Avon stay ready for real emergencies on the lake and along the shoreline.
