AVON/NORTH RIDGEVILLE: Pact with North Ridgeville finalized (westlifenews.com) — Mills Road in Avon is being resurfaced now through early November, with intermittent overnight closures as part of a joint project with North Ridgeville. Avon City Council also advanced a major Cleveland Clinic campus expansion, planning for a second fire station, and funding applications for key road and sidewalk improvements that will affect daily travel around Stoney Ridge, Kinzel, and Route 83.
   

2. Avon schools wins 5 stars: Ohio school report cards 2026 (cleveland.com) — Avon families can celebrate as Avon Local Schools earned a perfect five-star overall rating on Ohio's 2025-26 state report card, with a 99.1% graduation rate and low chronic absenteeism. The district excelled in achievement, progress, gap closing and graduation, while slightly trailing with four-star marks in early literacy and college and career readiness.
   

3. Lorain County officially designated as Urban County (morningjournal.com) — Avon is now part of Lorain County's new Urban County designation, opening the door to increased federal funding for housing, infrastructure, and neighborhood improvements. While some townships opted out, Avon joined nearby cities in seeking Community Development Block Grant dollars, with local leaders stressing that communities will still set their own project priorities.
   

4. Amherst volleyball: Young core leads Amherst after district championship season; Comets defeat Midview in four sets (morningjournal.com) — Avon volleyball fans will notice Amherst using last year's playoff loss to state champion Avon as motivation during a strong 10-3 start, including a recent win over Avon. Amherst's young hitters powered a four-set victory over Midview, extending their winning streak and tightening competition in the Southwestern Conference.
